Philips Healthcare 2012-2017: Derk Reefman, R&D Leader at Philips IGT

I got to know Frank in 2012 when we had a seemingly insurmountable manufacturability issue in one of our MEMS concepts. Frank introduced a very structured problem solving approach in the team, and moreover, a great team spirit. With that approach, Frank turned the program in a different direction, and also quickly demonstrated success, only to leave us when the problem was no longer existing. In 2016 we encountered another issue in a different MEMS concept. We could hire Frank again, where he demonstrated the skills why we hired him – but also demonstrated fantastic project management and stakeholder communication skills. Next to demonstrating these very important professional attributes, Frank proves to be a very social person as well, which makes it a pleasure to work with Frank.

Philips Research 2012-2013: Micha Bouts, Account manager Healthcare

Frank is a great person to collaborate with. We have been working together in the field of thin film technology for medical implants. Frank showed a perfect balance in managing the trade-off between continued innovative process improvements, while in the meantime securing the need for small series output. He created a transparent attitude in his communication, both internally and with the customer and as such quickly gained trust in his actions. Frank is a true teamplayer and keeps a high spirit of motivation.

Philips Healthcare 2009-2010: Rob Bonne, General Manager Philips BiometriX

Frank helped Philips Medical Systems BiometriX with the volume ramp up of new X-ray sensorplates from January 2009 till summer 2010. As Interim Engineering Manager he provided a structural approach with clear focus on the main items (“three balls approach”). His drive and enthusiasm, combined with the stimulation of cooperation, led to a highly motivated team and good customer relations. This all gave excellent results in a technically complex environment with very demanding customers.

ASML:

ASML D&E 202102023: Michael Kuijken, Group Lead Pellicle

Frank has worked three years at ASML as senior process architect for the development of ultra-thin membranes (pellicles) driving both the process development and the industrialization. This required very challenging technological process and product expertise in combination with dealing with development partners and external suppliers. Frank was able to do this successfully, by using his drive for results, enthusiasm, deep and broad technological knowledge, experience and managment skills. By using his large fundamental knowledge and vast operational experience in a very efficient way, and by excellent management of stakeholders, partners and expectations, Frank was able to make a big success out of this assignment. Because of this, and Frank's drive and enthusiasm being contagious towards the contributing teams, I strongly recommend hiring Frank for high tech development and industrialization assignments.

ASML Operations 2006-2007: Rogier Kuijpers, Lean Program Manager Manufacturing

Frank helped us, with his Triodin colleagues, with care for the people behind change. Introduction of Lean Manufacturing will not yield results if the people on the shop floor don’t support it. Frank has attention for the man/woman on the shop floor, and brought us lasting results. Also the project leaders that took over the role of change agent were inspired by Franks contribution.
